Looking for a newborn photographer can mean a lot of research as there are a lot of us out there. Terence – Kings newborn photoshoot was photographed at a slightly older age but as you can see, you can still get some very cute baby photos! I think he was about 8 weeks old, I might be slightly wrong but it was around that age, as you can see the photos are just more awake when the baby is older.

Photographing older newborns

While older newborns can be harder to photograph, Terrence- King was so calm and awake, with the cutest face looking right back at me. With older newborns they are more alert so you can’t really pose them asleep and curled up on a bean bag like you would a 7 day newborn. Using more props and photos with the parents is a great idea. Often parents worry that you won’t be able to get any good photos with older newborns. This is wrong, they will just be different more alert and awake but still very cute!

Tips for older newborn photos

Use more props, these are great for older newborns so the baby can have more movement as they like to have more movement in their arms and legs.
Try and get close ups and features during the newborn session such as their hands and feet
Include lots of photos with mummy and daddy, these are always really cute with older newborns.
Let them get comfortable and don’t try and pose them how you would a 7 day old newborn, this will make them feel uncomfortable.

Here is a few of my favourite photos from Terrence-Kings newborn session. We used mostly browns for his session, I love these tones for little boys! I started with photographing him on a brown rug and then we matched the colours with posing him in a bucket on the floor. Photographing Terrence – King with his proud big sister was so much fun as well, how cute are they! Then finishing the newborn session with some family photos, everyone joined in. It’s great that Terrence -Kings mummy and daddy wanted to be in the photos as well.
