Finding out you are pregnant is amazing and exciting, there is so much for you to think about! Booking a newborn photoshoot might not be at the top of your list as there are probably more important things to think about. It’s so exciting finding out you are pregnant, this is a new little addition to your family who you will welcome in 9 months π. There are a lot of newborn photographers out there, so if you have been thinking about booking a newborn photoshoot you have probably be scrolling through google, facebook, instagram, there’s endless places to look! Remember these newborn photos are going to be with you forever. You are not going to be able to get them retaken, so make sure you find a photographer who’s photos you love.
When is the best time?
So you’re wondering how old should a newborn be for a photoshoot? Ideally the best age for newborn photos is within the first 2 weeks of birth. If possible 7 days old is the perfect age to have a newborn photoshoot. Once your little one has arrived you will be going through a world wind of emotions, you suddenly have a beautiful baby that depends on you every minute of the day. Having a newborn shoot should be an enjoyable experience, you should be able to sit back and relax while your photographer does all the work.
Reasons why newborns are best photographed under 2 weeks
- Newborns are more sleepy under 2 weeks. They tend to be less alert and once had a big feed will fingers crossed sleep for a while during the newborn shoot.
- Newborns bones start to harden and they get less flexible as they get older. this means some poses are more achievable over 2 weeks of age.
- They are still so tiny and so cute, your newborn will grow up so fast. You will even notice a difference from 2 weeks to 4 weeks. Capturing your newborn at this age is perfect and trust me, you won’t regret it.
