When I first got into newborn photography I didn’t realise how hard but rewarding it would be. To become a professional newborn photographer you need to be dedicated in learning the trade. Newborn photography workshops is a must to ensure you are up to date with newborn safety. A lot of people when looking for a newborn photographer the first thing they will look at is the price. While I understand this, this shouldn’t be what your decision is based on. These photos are going to be with you for a life time and quality professional newborn images should be at the top of your list. I have heard so many stories of people regretting the photographer they chose and wish they had invested more into their photos, you are not going to get this time back.
Investing in newborn photography to get the beautiful photos that you will love
There are so many reason to invest in newborn photography. Make sure you find a photographer who’s style you love and can imagine these photos on your wall. At the end of the day you want to invest in some newborn photos that make you smile everyday when you look at them. Here are my main reasons why I think it’s important to invest in newborn photography.
You can’t get this time back
As I said earlier, time is a big factor when booking in newborn photography. Most newborn photographers will get very booked up so it’s best to book in with your photographer while you are pregnant. This will guarantee you a space for when your little one is born! The best time for newborn photography is when your newborn is under 2 weeks, which is a very small time frame to capture these photos. These first 2 weeks with your new addition to the family are going to fly by. Looking back at your newborn photos to remember this time will bring a smile to your face 😊
Newborn photography props and assessories
A professional newborn photographer will have all the newborn props and assessories needed for your session. You won’t have to worry about bringing anything with you unless you would like to. I am always investing in new props and making sure I have everything I need for your newborn session.
Your newborn photographer will have years of experience
I am highly trained in Photography with a BA Honours degree and I have also trained with some of the top newborn photographers on newborn photography workshops. It’s so important to me to keep up to date with newborn safety, I have photographed 100’s of newborn babies and your baby will be in safe hands! Make sure you invest in a photographer that has been trained properly as some newborn poses can be hard to achieve.
Editing of your final photos
A professional newborn photographer will always spend a lot of time editing your photos. To me the editing is so important and shows the quality in your work. Most babies have newborn flaky skin and will need some kind of editing, this takes up a lot of time. I spend about 5 hours editing one newborn session and it can be longer. Thats that not including the time of uploading the photos, backing up the photos and going through the photos to select the photos to be edited. It’s very time consuming and large part of a newborn photographers job.
Professional equipment
I have invested a lot into my photography equipment over the years. Making sure I have 2 Cameras, one for backup incase anything breaks or something goes wrong with one of them. I have the Canon 5d mark 11 and mark 111 as well as various cannon lenses and studio lighting. These days there are a lot of phones out there that have great cameras but they are still no where near the quality as a professional DSLR camera.
You can also be in the photos
In the world we live in today of camera phones, it’s often a quick selfie or you’re not in the photo. We have so many photos on our phones that we don’t end up looking at. During my newborn photography sessions I love including family photos. You can all be in the photos as a family together, these will be moments that you won’t forget and investing in these photos is so special. It’s also a great memory fo you to show your baby once they have grown up, I love looking at family photo albums from when I was younger!
